Multan is a city in Punjab Pakistan, located near Chenab River, which increases tourism. Multan is major cultural and economic centre of Southern Punjab, which causes tourism, as tourism helps in promoting business and traditions.
Tourism makes social and economical benefits. Being a historical city, Multan is full to tombs, mosques and other monuments of Muslim Origin which becomes the major cause of tourism. An attractive site for tourism, also known as “City of Saints”. 


It is famous for its Sufi Shrines, which becomes the basic reason of tourism here. Ancient name of Multan was Kashep Puri. Current name Multan was given by Mali people who were defeated by Alaxender the Great. Multan was one of the most important trading centres which becomes the main cause of tourism. The most spoken language in Multan is Saraiki but also Punjabi and urdu speaking people lived there.

Bahauddin Zakariya University is the public university with its main campus in Multan, it was founded in 1975 and is one of the largest universities in South Punjab and was renamed in the honour of Sufi saint Hazrat Bahuddin Zakariya. It is located on Bosan Road Multan. It has a number of departments of every field. Number of students come from other areas to get themselves acknowledged from here.
