SINDH CULTURE
Culture is the way of life, language, dress style, food, religious beliefs,
customs and traditions of people living in a society.
Sindh is the land of religious mystic and saints. Sindh culture has its roots
in the Indus Valley Civilization. Sindh is one of the largest provinces of Pakistan.
This province along with other qualities is rich in agriculture production and minerals resources. People living in
interior Sindh and in the coastal areas follow their traditions. These people
present the best social ways in their living styles and hospitality.
Sindh Occupation
Sindh is one of the four provinces of Pakistan, in the southeast
of the country. The Sindhu River or Indus that passes through the land of Sindh, and the Arabian Sea. The Sindhu River is the longest river in Asia. It's
length is about 3,180Km. Sindh is the home of Pakistan's Industry, also second largest
economy source. Karachi is the Capital of Sindh.
Sindh Culture Traditions
Sindh culture is renowned for its Sindhi language
spoken throughout the world. The Sindhi language evolved over a long period of 2400 years.Sindhi culture is one of the oldest cultures in the subcontinent
the Sindhi culture in Pakistan. Sindh has a very rich culture that is
significantly known over the world.Sindh cultural traditions are Sindhi costume, food, Music, Poetry,
Sports and most important Sindhi Cultural Day.
Sindhi costume
Sindhi wear the Shalwar
kameez or women also wear a sari or the
kurta with pyjamma. Traditionally, before the adoption of the Shalwar kameez,
the sari, and the kurta, Sindhi's had their own traditional costumes. Sindhi
Topi ajrak is their own cultural dresses.
Men also wear dhoti kurta and Sindhi Topi.
Sindhi Cuisine
The food in daily routine mostly consists of wheat-based, flat-bread
(phulka) and rice accompanied by two dishes, one gravy and one dry. A sweet dish called 'Kheer Kharkun' are prepared and served on Eid ul-Fitr.
Sindhi Kari
It is a delicious and special dish prepared on special occasions by Sindhis residing in India. It consists of a
thick spicy gravy made from chickpea flour unlike buttermilk usually used for Kari preparation along with seasonal
vegetables. It is served hot with rice for a yummy taste.
Poetry
Sindhi poetry is also leading
eminent in Sindhi culture. Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Sachal Sarmast is a very
famous poet of Sindh. Their poetry has a valuable place in the literature.

Sindhi Cultural Day
Sindh Cultural day is celebrating in worldwide
every year on first Sunday of December, by wearing Ajrak &Sindhi Topi.On
this occasion musically programs held in different cities of Sindh. The musical
performances of the artists compel the participants to dance on Sindhi tunes
and ‘Jeay Sindh Jeay-Sindh Wara Jean’.
